VISION AND MISSION

MN Youth in Jazz was created to provide opportunities for young people to learn about and participate in jazz music. We bring together young musicians from the Twin Cities metro area to create together alongside industry professionals.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands is committed to educating students in a community in which every member’s voice is valued and respected. We believe that music should be available to all students and that diversity is essential to creativity. We’ll work with our students to provide them what they need to succeed.

Our History

Ten years of Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands

During our first ten years, the Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands have:

  • Toured Europe in July of 2011, performing 5 times in Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands, including a performance at the Montreux jazz festival.
  • Performed to a packed house at the Dakota Jazz Club captured live on a DVD.
  • Recorded 7 professional quality studio CDs and 5 DVDs.
  • Performed fourteen concerts for hundreds of people at Famous Dave's in Minneapolis.
